One-Day Trip to Szczyrk

There are places that grab your heart at first glance—and Szczyrk definitely does. Surrounded by mountain peaks, lush and fragrant with forest air, free from the city’s hustle and bustle—it’s perfect for an active day out.

We start with a morning ride on the cable car to Skrzyczne—the highest peak in the Silesian Beskids. The peaceful ascent is a pleasure in itself, and the view from the top? A sweeping panorama of the Beskids, nearby lakes, and villages—ideal for photos and even better for a mental “reset.”

At the summit, there’s time for a leisurely walk—no challenges, just stunning scenery all around. If you like, grab a coffee with a view or simply lie on the grass and soak up the open space.

Back down in town (or by cable car—your choice), something special awaits: a “green” kulig. Hop into festively decorated horse-drawn sleighs and set off across meadows and forest paths to the rhythm of highlander music. Along the way, there’s laughter, photos, singing—and the sensation that time has stopped.

The kulig ends in a cozy woodland pavilion, where a bonfire’s already crackling, the scent of grilled sausage, homemade bread, and smoked cheese with cranberry drifts through the air. Benches, blankets, firelight—and a live highlander band. A bit of music, some dancing, plenty of laughter. An atmosphere you won’t find in any city.

By evening, full of memories and well-fed, we head home—with the smell of smoke in our hair, rosy cheeks, and smiles that won’t fade.
